‘Baggage Claim’ Movie Review

baggage claim banner pic

This is a large and mostly well known ensemble cast romantic comedy movie with a mediocre storyline. There are laughs (especially Tia Mowry’s character) yet there could have been more depth to the characters and overall movie. A soft start for David E. Talbert in film making (he’s well known for his Plays) yet he’s finally getting his start.

‘Rush’ Movie Review

rush 2

Most will think this movie is geared towards men…NOT…I totally enjoyed this movie and seeing Thor (Chris Hemsworth), he has a nude buttock scene, lol. Seriously, the script is solid and the acting is good. This is a true story about two race car drivers that had a serious rivalry. All of the characters are engaging and if you’re unfamiliar with race car drivers, you are engaged enough to want to know more. Ron Howard does a great job directing this movie (as he normally does). Definitely worth checking out. A few somewhat gory scenes.

‘Enough Said’ Movie Review

I don’t recall seeing a film before this one that James Gandolfini starred in…what a great introduction to his film career. This is a lighthearted romantic (good) comedy. James and Julia have great chemistry in this movie. This movie is definitely worth checking out. It’s so sad that his life ended this year.

‘Don Jon’ Movie Review

I saw this movie about three weeks ago and have discussed it with other advance screeners to find out if they felt the same as I did. Most of the people I talked to liked the movie; only a few didn’t. I’m amongst the few that didn’t like this movie. Yes, the premise is about a man who is addicted to watching porn. I was totally negatively distracted by all the porn in the movie, therefore, I couldn’t connect to the character having an addiction… a sex addiction. There are a few funny family scenes that Tony Danza is in. In the end the main character learns the true meaning of love making.

‘Prisoners’ Movie Review

Prisoners banner

This movie has received rave reviews from many writers across the country. The storyline kept me thinking throughout the movie; you must pay careful attention to all details to “maybe” figure out who the abductor is. Great cast and good performances. I don’t think this is an Oscar worthy movie yet you never know. There are twists in the storyline that reminded me of ‘Kiss the Girls’ yet this movie is not on that level of a great thriller/drama. It’s worth checking out. The ending may not be what you expect.

‘Battle of the Year’ Movie Review

boty 2

I didn’t go in expecting much of a storyline from a dance movie yet I was pleasantly surprised that I liked it. The storyline is somewhat predictable yet the dance scenes are so good that I was engaged to see more. Josh Holloway of television series “Lost” is the lead actor. The most well known face in the movie is Chris Brown and he does what he does best in this movie….dance. I did see it in 3D and enjoyed the movie even more so. My rating is primarily based on the dance scenes. The genre is for a younger audience yet all ages will enjoy the music and dance scenes.

‘A Single Shot’

A single shot

If you’re a Sam Rockwell fan, you will enjoy this movie. The storyline is very slow and does give the viewer a chance learn the characters. There are a few “grey” areas in the film that are not cleared up. The ending may not be a fan fave (just warning you). Melissa Leo co-stars; she’s also in new release ‘Prisoners’ on 9/20.

‘The Family’ Movie Review

The Family banner pic

I found this to be a humorous yet dark action/comedy movie. This is a (typical) mafia storyline yet there are twists to the storyline that keep you wondering what is the genre of this movie? Lol, most will find this movie entertaining with a pretty good cast…the children’s characters, Belle and Warren are hilarious. I think I was expecting more drama to this storyline and other genres were more present. Some of the fight/crimes scenes are intense.

‘Winnie Mandela’ Movie Review

http://pinterest.com/carolyn563/muse-enthusiasts-movie-reviews-more/Winnie Mandela banner

Jennifer Hudson and Terrance Howard deliver stellar performances as Winnie & Nelson Mandela. The storyline is told from Winnie’s perspective (in my opinion) yet her faults are depicted as well. I have seen Winnie Mandela in person and I remember her mannerisms…Jennifer Hudson nails this role. I thought Terrance would give a mediocre performance yet I was pleasantly surprised by his great performance. The movie and their performances are Oscar worthy (we’ll see what happens). This film is presented by T.D. Jakes.

‘Riddick’ Movie Review

Riddick banner

Well Sci-Fi fans we finally have a film that’s a must see! ‘Riddick’ delivers big time. Vin brings back everything we love about this character. It’s a solid storyline that keeps you engaged with the action scenes and scenery; some gory and intense scenes. This movie does tie in the previous two movies ‘Pitch Black’ from 2000 (which I haven’t seen) and ‘Chronicles of Riddick’ from 2004. I saw the movie in IMAX and it was FABULOUS! So I highly recommend the upgrade if you can. I was surprised to see Keri Hilson (singer) in the movie…good look for her.
