‘Homefront’ Movie Review

As expected Jason Statham delivers a stellar action packed performance in a storyline that’s pretty good with a couple of twists. Phil Broker is a former DEA agent that moves his family to a quiet town, where he soon tangles with a local meth druglord, James Franco (Morgan ‘Gator’ Bodine). Worth checking out.

‘Black Nativity’ Movie Review

black Nav cover

This is a Holiday musical that is depicted from the Play by poet Langston Hughes. With a well known ensemble cast, this film is current day yet recreates biblical scenes of the birth of Christ. The story is about love with inspiring moments especially with the music! Raphael Saadiq is the Executive Music Director and as usual he does a fabulous job (especially songs that were chosen for this film). The music from well known singers is wonderful and all others try to hold their own (lol). Nice movie to see this Holiday Season with family and friends.

‘Frozen’ Movie Review

Frozen-banner-from-Disney-Store-frozen-35561624-950-340

What a delightful animated film for the Holiday Season. Michigan’s own Kristen Bell is the lead character (Anna) and delivers a great performance that’s worthy of a sequel. This is a Disney film at it’s best. Everything on the screen is lush and all ages will enjoy. I did see it in 3D yet it’s not necessary to enjoy the full beauty of the film.

‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Movie Review

Hunger Games 2 banner

What a great sequel! I saw the first film and I didn’t like it at all. Catching Fire was spectacular to look at with a storyline that captured my attention all 2 hrs. and 26 minutes (no end credit scene). I haven’t read any of the books yet I understood the storyline (and later got answers from fans of the books, lol).

‘Delivery Man’ Movie Review

del man

This film is actually depicted about a true story. It’s really unbelievable that something like this could possibly happen yet it did. Most of the storyline is light hearted and the best humor towards the end of the film.

‘The Best Man Holiday’ Movie Review

The best Man Holiday banner pic 2

Well, it’s no secret that I totally love this sequel (the original film ‘The Best Man’ was released in 1999)! The entire original cast is back on the big screen to make us laugh and we get see how their characters matured. Although it’s been 15 years since the original was filmed and 14 years since it was released, the film depicts only a 10 year gap. This film tugs at all emotions especially laughter and we get to see how much they all do care for one another. Terrance Howard’s character, Quentin is a fave of mine. He totally rocks portraying this character! He’s funny as ever! Morris Chestnut (Lance) definitely steals scenes with that gorgeous physique, ting to my smile 🙂 It’s not necessary to see the original film yet seeing it will help you to understand the characters better (there are flashback scenes from the original). I have seen this film twice already, lol, at an advance screening and 11/14 at a late night showing. Overall, a great film to check out this weekend and coming Holiday Season. An instant classic and must have DVD. P.S. The dance routine scene is great!

‘The Book Thief’ Movie Review

The book thief

I’m a fan of war movies and this film depicted from the novel is a good adaptation. The storyline is a little slow yet I enjoyed learning about the characters from their perspective during World War II. The lead character Liesel is a sweetheart and I enjoyed seeing her journey although, sad. This type of film is a fave of mine this time of the year; quite heartwarming with lots of surprising humor from several characters.

‘Thor: The Dark World’ Movie Review

Thor banner

Thor is back! Another great Marvel movie…what more can I say. Chris H. rocks again as Thor; great action scenes; good villians and a funny cameo of another Avenger. Definitely worth checking out. Idris Elba is a fave of mine and he returns in his role as, Heimdall. I saw it in 3D yet I didn’t think it added anything spectatular to the movie (save your money). Don’t forget, as usual, END credit scenes(S)…that’s right TWO end credit scenes. Make sure you stay until the screen turns BLACK, lol. Enjoy!

‘Last Vegas’ Movie Review

Last Vegas

Really funny storyline of four friends hanging out in Las Vegas for the last single friend in the group bachelor party. A great ensemble cast of legendary actors Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro, Kevin Kline and Michael Douglas. A great Fall popcorn flick that all should enjoy.

‘Ender’s Game’ Movie Review

enders game

I love sci-fi movies and that’s probably why this movie ended up being ok to me. Had they attempted to just be an action/adventure movie it would have been a failure in my opinion. The lead character Ender is strong and does a good job at leading his team into battle. I think the actor, Asa Butterfield, has a pretty good career in Hollywood building up from this role. This film is depicted from the book of the same name (several other books in this series so if this one is successful, I’m sure more films will be made). The cinematography is wonderful and I wish I had seen it in Imax (which I know is fabulous). Overall, I thought this movie was a giant video game on screen.
