Wow, that’s what I thought the whole time while watching this film. I was totally captivated from beginning to end – all 3 hours! This film is NOT for anyone who will be offended by “anything”. If you’re a “religious” person, this is not the film for you. Raw, raunchy, over-the-top, and sinful behavior is mostly what this film is about and it’s depicted quite well. In my opinion, this is Leonardo DiCaprio’s best performance to date! I loved him in ‘Titanic’ yet this is a totally different kind of film. Good chemistry and acting by an ensemble cast (honorable mention of Jonah Hill). This film is depicted from a TRUE story about the life of Jordan Belfort. Leonardo definitely deserves all award nominations for his portrayal of Jordan and I hope he wins the Oscar. ALERT: This film is NOT for children or teenagers that accompany adults that you don’t want exposed to what will be shown on screen.

I didn’t expect that I would like this film yet surprisingly I enjoyed the humor and the chemistry of the cast of characters. Stallone and De Niro hold their own and overall the film was entertaining (with of course the humor of Kevin Hart’s character).

After watching an advance screening of ‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom’ I couldn’t help but to compare it to ‘Winnie’ that opened in Sept. I thoroughly enjoyed both films about His Excellency Nelson Mandela and his 2nd wife Winnie. Idris Elba whom I adore is getting Oscar buzz for his performance; should he get it…that would be great yet I didn’t see an Oscar performance. Naomie Harris holds her own as Winnie. I will say that I enjoyed “the acting performances” of Jennifer Hudson and Terrance Howard in ‘Winnie’ better. Both of them did a phenomenal job and their performances are Oscar worthy! Terrances’ role as Mandela is small in ‘Winnie’ yet quite good. ‘Winnie’ didn’t get the advertising dollars to promote it or box office sales and I haven’t heard any Oscar buzz for this film. ‘Winnie’ is told from her perspective as is ‘Mandela’ told from his perspective (based on the book). Winnie Mandela led a life full of struggles when her husband was imprisoned. If only 10% of the truth of her life is depicted in these films, then I can understand why she did the things she did (I don’t justify the crimes). Both are powerful films that everyone should see. I have been in the presence of Winnie Mandela once…she came to MI years ago and spoke at my church at the time. I didn’t realize what her struggle had been and I was only aware of the allegations about her. There’s aren’t many more accolades that I can give Madiba” or “Tata (b.k.a. Nelson Mandela He was just a strong man that didn’t allow the hardship of his life to harden his heart, wow!

If you enjoy movies about day-dreamers that have fantasies that are acted out and a bit over the top, then you’ll like this movie (especially if you’re a Ben Stiller fan). I thought the fantasy scenes were outlandish…there’s a little humor and a surprise appearance by a popular celebrity.

Flashback to the 1970’s….music, clothing and all! I totally enjoyed the music and seeing another film depict this decade that probably could never be duplicated (Disco and the clothes, lol). Big ensemble cast with a few good performances. Christian Bale is hardly recognizable; Bradley Cooper does a good job as Richie DiMaso (he should get a few award noms); Amy Adams may be a stand out for award noms; Jennifer Lawrence has a small role and it isn’t as notable as her role in ‘Silver Linings Playbook’. Overall, I thought the film was ok and it held my attention…it just wasn’t as good as the media is playing it up to be. Lots of laughs. Bradley Cooper gets an honorable mention for his dancing skills (Saturday Night Live style)!

There’s nothing like a Disney film during the Holidays. We see the journey of Mr. Disney acquiring the rights to make ‘Mary Poppins’ into a film. It wasn’t easy as he was fought by author P.L. Travers the entire way. Emma Thompson (she should get an Oscar nomination) does a phenomenal job as Travers and Tom Hanks portrayal of Mr. Disney is one to remember. If you’re a Disney fan, then this is a must see.

All of the characters are back expect one…I won’t spoil it yet he is my least fave of this franchise and ‘The Lord of the Rings’ (but most ppl like him, lol). I saw it in 3D and thought it was pretty ok. Worth checking out this Holiday Season.
