‘American Hustle’ Movie Review

american hustle

Flashback to the 1970’s….music, clothing and all! I totally enjoyed the music and seeing another film depict this decade that probably could never be duplicated (Disco and the clothes, lol). Big ensemble cast with a few good performances. Christian Bale is hardly recognizable; Bradley Cooper does a good job as Richie DiMaso (he should get a few award noms); Amy Adams may be a stand out for award noms; Jennifer Lawrence has a small role and it isn’t as notable as her role in ‘Silver Linings Playbook’. Overall, I thought the film was ok and it held my attention…it just wasn’t as good as the media is playing it up to be. Lots of laughs. Bradley Cooper gets an honorable mention for his dancing skills (Saturday Night Live style)!

‘Saving Mr. Banks’ Movie Review

saving mr banks

There’s nothing like a Disney film during the Holidays. We see the journey of Mr. Disney acquiring the rights to make ‘Mary Poppins’ into a film. It wasn’t easy as he was fought by author P.L. Travers the entire way. Emma Thompson (she should get an Oscar nomination) does a phenomenal job as Travers and Tom Hanks portrayal of Mr. Disney is one to remember. If you’re a Disney fan, then this is a must see.
