‘Son of God’ Movie Review

Son of God banner

This film is an adaptation of the History Channel’s 4 part 8 hour mini-series that aired last year.  I totally enjoyed the mini-series as millions others did as well.  I enjoy seeing a parable from the Bible come to television or the big screen and follow the Bible as the parable was.  This is a great film for all to support.

‘Pompeii’ Movie Review

Pompeii

I love films of this era so ‘Pompeii’ is a winner to me (lol). This is a familiar story of City of Pompeii with Kit Harington (Jon Snow from ‘Game of Thrones’) starring in the lead role. I enjoyed it (I’m currently catching up with ‘Spartacus’ so seeing this film kept to the same genre). I did see it in 3D and the special effects were good during the volcano eruption scenes.

‘3 Days To Kill’ Movie Review

3 Days to Kill banner pic

I found this to be a somewhat slow moving film with mixed genres (which most movies have) yet the movie couldn’t stick to a flowing genre that held my interest. I’m a Kevin Costner fan yet I didn’t care for this film. There’s lot of humor which saves the film but this is not a film I’d recommend to anyone.

‘About Last Night’ Movie Review

About last night banner

Here’s a very sexy rom/com being released on Valentine’s Day. The storyline is “loosely” based on a film of the same name from 1986 (which I’ve never seen). This is basically a storyline of two couples on a fast paced quest in their relationships yet they discover they need to slow things down. Kevin Hart is probably the hottest comedian in Hollywood now and this film is his second thus far this year (with two more coming later in 2014). This film is also produced by Will Packer and John Legend has a catchy tune played (as he did in ‘Think Like A Man’) in the television trailer and film. I enjoyed this film and wouldn’t mind seeing it again.

‘Robocop 2014’ Movie Review

Robocop banner

The ‘Robocop’ franchise is back! It’s not a bad remake. The action is pretty good, the storyline is true to the original film and Sam Jackson as Pat Novak is hilarious. If you know anything about Detroit, there are a few jokes towards politicians of the City that are mostly funny. Enjoy sites of Detroit (partially filmed in Detroit). Overall, I think it’s worth checking out and I hope a sequel is made…besides anything Sam Jackson touches turns to gold, right? LOL.

‘Nebraska’ Movie Review (Oscar nominee)

Nebraska

I was unexpectedly pleased with this film. So much humor throughout and good from acting from the lead characters. June Squibb truly deserves her Best Supporting Actress nomination as does the film for Best Picture. Shot in black and white yet it truly gives you the feeling of a small town and the families that live here. It’s definitely an adventure for Woody (Bruce Dern) to “try” and collect a million dollars that he thinks he won.

‘Philomena’ Movie Review (Oscar Nominee)

philomena

A great heartwarming film about a mother’s journey to find her son that she was forced to give up (based on a true story). Good acting along with a good storyline kept my attention the entire film. Well deserved Oscar nomination for Best Picture.

‘The Lego Movie’ Movie Review

So much nostalgia with these popular toy pieces and funny characters (Batman/Will Arnett and Vitruvius/Morgan Freeman my faves) make this animated film a winner-winner! There’s lots of jokes for the young at heart…probably more directed for the adults (I think this film is for us, lol). A good family film to see.

‘The Monuments Men’ Movie Review

Monuments Men banner

I really do enjoy movies that depict historical events etc… yet I found this film slow and for the most part not very interesting (even being depicted from a true story). I usually do not like George Clooney directed films and this one is added to the list (even though I keep watching his films). I didn’t like the “Hogan’s Heroes” type music playing throughout the film…it gave a gimmicky feel to the film. In my opinion, wait for the dvd rental. It’s too bad the film isn’t an instant classic with the great ensemble cast.
