‘St. Vincent’ Movie Review

St Vincent banner

This movie is filled with total dysfunctional behavior from the lead character Vincent portrayed by Bill Murray. He gives a stellar performance of a man with lots of complexities to his life yet beneath his negativities he has a good soul; which sums up the title of the movie. I expect an Oscar nomination for him in this role. Pretty good ensemble cast and break out role for Jaeden Lieberher who portrays, Oliver. Heart warming movie.

‘Dear White People’ Movie Review

Dear white ppl

While watching this movie I thought I was watching a 21st Century ‘School Daze’….and it’s a good thing. Tyler James Williams portrays, Lionel Higgins, a character who is complex and I think figuring out his sexuality (I was surprised to see Tyler in this kind of role). This movie is totally thought provoking and there are so many words and statements to evoke conversation afterwards with people of all races, satire at it’s best. There are slow points yet you can reflect on what’s going on. Definitely worth checking out.

‘John Wick’ Movie Review

John Wick banner

Mr. Matrix is back on the big screen in this action packed shoot-em-up movie. The movie starts light hearted and when it changes to gunfire it doesn’t stop until the very end with another brief light hearted scene. There’s humor within the drama/action scenes which adds to the storyline, to me anyways. This is definitely a “guy” movie (ladies they can have their movies as we have our chick flicks). “Game of Thrones” fans will see Alfie Allen (character: Iosef Tarasov) in a co-leading role…we who are fans of G.O.T. know him as, Theon Greyjoy. Lastly, don’t mess with John Wick’s dog, IJS.

‘Fury’ Movie Review

Fury banner

Gory, intense, great acting are all components of a really good war movie depicted about World War II. A brave five man team take on hundreds of enemy soldiers…the team is led by courageous Wardaddy (Brad Pitt). I expect to see him get an Oscar nomination as he does a great job in this role.

‘The Best of Me’ Movie Review

the best of me

Total chick flick movie based on the book of the same name. Basically, teenage sweethearts reunite 21 years after they broke up. Amanda did marry and have children and Dawson lived his life. The cause of their break-up is revealed towards the end of movie. I like chick flicks yet I didn’t like the ending of this movie. Great eye candy from James Marsden who portrays, Dawson.

‘Kill the Messenger’ Movie Review

K the Messenger

Based on a true story, a news reporter gets info on the U.S./CIA allowing guns and drugs into the U.S. Rick Ross who was a big drug dealer is apart of this huge story yet the notoriety of this story mostly went unknown because it came to the surface at the same time of the Clinton/Lewinsky sexual tryst. The reporter who exposed this story was unable to get work again in Media and he later committed suicide.

‘Dracula Untold’ Movie Review

Dracula Untold banner

I totally enjoy medieval time movies which is how I saw this movie to be yet with a couple scary characters namely, Dracula. The horror is not too bad yet there are a few scenes that are scary, lol. Ok for a Dracula movie; it totally sets up a sequel in present day time. It was good seeing Charles Dance from ‘Game of Thrones’ on the big screen, unfortunately he portrays the king of darkness.

‘Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day’ Movie Review

Alexande etc banner

A fun and funny family movie. Disney doesn’t disappoint in this comedy in an never ending day of bad situations that son, Alexander wishes upon them and quickly regrets. It’s a pretty predictable movie yet there are laughs.

‘The Judge’ Movie Review

The Judge banner

Here’s an Oscar worthy movie and Oscar worthy performances. Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall give spectacular performances (I’d really love to see Duvall win). The main storyline is about Duvall’s character, Joseph Palmer, being on trial yet there are other sidebar storylines that add to the depth of the movie. I didn’t expect the sentimental drama scenes to resonate so strong in the movie, yet they did and gave character to the storyline. Overall, a great ensemble cast.

‘Addicted’ Movie Review

Addicted banner

Zane brings her exotic writing to the big screen (she’s an author) and keeps to what she’s known best for. The storyline keeps your attention yet it loses it’s punch towards the end. For the most part, most people don’t watch Zane adaptations for the storyline, IJS. ‘Addicted’ is a decent start for her writings on the big screen.
