‘Everest’ Movie Review

Everest banner

Based on the true story of the journey about climbers from two expeditions starting their final ascent toward the summit of Mount Everest in 1996, the highest point on Earth. The weather changes and it turns deadly. I saw it in IMAX 3D which made each scene on the mountain that much more intense; paying the extra for IMAX is worth it.

’90 Minutes in Heaven’ Movie Review

90 Minutes Banner

Another faith based film is in theatres that’s uplifting and encouraging. This movie is based on the book of the same name about the true story of preacher, Don Piper (who resides in the Atlanta, GA area with his family). The story is truly inspirational. The acting could have been more intense considering the traumatic accident and how it affected the family’s life moving forward; also a bit slow.

‘Captive’ Movie Review

Captive banner

Another true story based on the non-fiction book ‘Unlikely Angel’ by Ashley Smith. Compelling to say the least that one would survive such an encounter. The journey of the lead characters actually leads them both to doing the right thing in the end; Maras’ character actually read the top selling book “The Purpose Driven Life” by Rick Warren to her kidnapper. Both have or had dark situations yet David Oyelowo’s character really becomes violent and a murderer. The movie is a bit slow even though is not a long movie. There are a few scenes that no words are spoken.

‘Learning to Drive’ Movie Review

I didn’t know what to expect with this film and I ended up really liking it. The movie is actually heartwarming to me….love, marriage, divorce, friendship, citizenship and family are all covered in this film that’s makes you laugh and maybe makes you want to cry.

‘Black Mass’ Movie Review

Black Mass banner

This movie is based on a true story and I found the story to be intriguing. Wow, what an almost unreal thought process to the goings-on of the characters. It’s amazing that Whitey was able to do what he did for as long as he did and elude law enforcement. He was captured in 2011 on an anonymous tip. Brace yourself for lots of violent crime.

‘Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials’ Movie Review

Maze Runner 2 banner

I pleasantly surprised that this sequel is even better than the first film in this franchise adapted from books of the same name. There’s a lot of action and of course lots of running, lol. A few of the scenes have shock effect because I jumped a few times. It was the #1 movie in it’s opening weekend. Once again, I’m always happy to see Game of Thrones actors on the big screen…this film has two of them Nathalie Emmanuel and Aidan Gillen. Patricia Clarkson portrays the top leader of the enemies and she’s currently starring in ‘Learning to Drive’ (which I also really liked).

‘A Walk in the Woods’ Movie Review

A Walk in the Woods banner

Based on the popular book of the same name (which I didn’t read) is a movie of two “somewhat” friends, lol that set off on a later in life journey up the Appalachian Trail. Very picturesque! Humor and a decent movie to check out.

‘The Perfect Guy’ Movie Review

The Perfect Guy banner

There were no advance screenings of this movie so I didn’t think it would live up to the hype of the hot-thriller trailers that has a well known leading cast. I do feel that a few of the best scenes in the movie are in movie trailer so scenes that are really good you know what happens because you’ve seen the trailer. It did kinda remind me of ‘No Good Deed’. Overall the storyline held my attention yet somewhat predicable yet a twist to the end of the storyline. P.S. I didn’t like the way one major scene ended and I won’t spoil it for you.

‘American Ultra’ Movie Review

American Ultra

I didn’t have much expectation for this movie (storyline and acting) yet I was pleasantly surprised that I kinda liked it, lol. Sort of a superhero type movie yet the hero is a stoner, lol. Zany storyline yet it held my attention.

Lots of action; gory scenes and probably enough of a storyline for the male demographic.
