This movie is, of course, based on a true story of our fore-mothers who marched and became rebels for equality of women. It was really horrible when women had no rights and had to fight for everything. Carey gives a stellar performance as Maud Watts (I wouldn’t be surprised with an Oscar nomination; she also does well in period movies). Now, I would be surprised if Meryl gets an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Emmeline Pankhurst. The role is quite small yet Pankhurst was the rebel leader. Great acting and story well told. Immediately after the movie, there’s a scroll of countries showing when women gained equal rights…astonishing on years the rights were made lawful and shocking on the 2015 country addition.
