‘Lion’ Movie Review

Based on a true story of a five-year old that gets lost hundreds of miles away from home. He faces a language barrier, being kidnapped and homelessness. This is a heart touching film that will bring you to tears. There’s video footage of the real people that this story is depicted about. The younger Saroo’s performance will bring you to tears. Great acting!

‘Jackie’ Movie Review

This movie is depicts Jackie Kennedy’s viewpoint of the assignation of her husband John F. Kennedy. I think Natalie Portman gives a stellar performance yet I am not familiar with the mannerisms of Mrs. Kennedy. It’s a good movie about the reality of what she had to deal with and handle. It’s sad and we see a gory scene of the shooting. I was looking to see the recreation of John-John saluting his dads casket yet it wasn’t in the movie. I expect to read about many award show nominations.

What a very funny Christmas movie yet know it’s very raunchy!!! The family is depicted from Grand Rapids, MI (fyi for Michiganders)and the laughs starts immediately. Laugh out loud funny…don’t take the young ones.

‘Fences’ Movie Review

What a well written script from the broadway show! The acting is superior and I expect many movie award nominations. The dialogue is crisp and you don’t get a chance to drift off because every word counts. What a storyline!

‘Passengers’ Movie Review

Other than ‘Star Trek’ & ‘Star Wars’ (off the top of my head) this is my favorite sci-fi film of the year (although not labeled as sci-fi). Finally, a good sci-fi flick that I could relate to and end up enjoying (I think ‘Arrival’ is totally overrated). There’s of course a love story and that sealed the deal for me. It was a surprise to see the third human passenger, lol. I saw it in Real D 3D and enjoyed it.

‘Assassin’s Creed’ Movie Review

assasin-creed-banner

I am totally unfamiliar with the game. With that being said, I viewed this movie as a novice and am reviewing it based on the movie only (no comparison to the game etc…). I totally enjoyed the mythical scenes. I did not like the present day scenes but maybe they were needed to build the story as the assassins move forward. I saw it in Real D 3D and it was pretty good.

‘Sing’ Movie Review

What a cute movie! It’s all about singing animals and I don’t recall a mere mention about humans, lol. Overall, the movie held my attention. I saw it in Real D 3D yet 2D is probably fine.

‘La La Land’ Movie Review

I’m not a big fan of musical movies yet I kept an open mind going in and I ended up liking this one. Of course with the singing comes a chick flick which kept me interested. The singing wasn’t bad by the lead actors and overall it’s a decent movie. Now the ending left me thinking what was real or fake (la la land).

‘Collateral Beauty’ Movie Review

Collateral Beauty banner.png

I expected this movie to be “dark” based on the trailers. I didn’t expect to fall in love with this movie. The storyline is sad for this time of the year, especially for anyone who has lost a child. The end of the movie leaves you wondering if angels really do exist. Strong performance by Will Smith. Definitely worth checking out…tissues may be needed. Great ensemble cast.

‘Manchester by the Sea’ Movie Review

Manchester by the Sea banner.png

This movie lives up to the hype. I enjoyed the emotional journey of this family. The movie is not shown in calendar time; it jumps around to leave you guessing on what happened that led to something else happening or what happened to certain characters. Great acting as a whole and I concur with all award shows nominations.
