‘A Dog’s Purpose’ Movie Review

I’ve heard both sides regarding the negative hype about this film then I decided to see this movie. Overall, this is a feel-good family movie and if you’re a pet lover (especially dogs), then you will LOVE this movie.

‘Gold’ Movie Review

Based on a true story, you have two men that become fast buddies set on finding gold in Indonesia! As far fetched as they know it to happen…it happens…or does it? The ending will leave you wondering who knew what all along. A bit slow.

‘Resident Evil: The Final Chapter’ Movie Review

resident-evil-banner

Well, this is supposed to be the last movie in this video game franchise yet I think it would be a big mistake. I’m not familiar with the game yet I’m a fan of the movies and they have gotten better each time and this one is an adrenaline rush from the beginning to the end! There’s a storyline and LOTS of great action scenes…it doesn’t disappoint. I saw it in IMAX 3D and it was great.  I didn’t wait until the end of credits to see if there was a scene.  P.S. Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont) from #GOT has co-starring role.

‘Split’ Movie Review

Split banner.png

I had angst about seeing this movie (I don’t like to be spooked, lol). I went to the theatre in the daytime….I didn’t expect a storyline that I could follow without being scared. There’s also a back storyline to follow that explains the ending. I was told that seeing the movie, ‘Unbreakable’ “may” explain something about this movie (but I don’t know). The movie gets gory towards the end so be prepared!  P.S.  there are about three things that the movie didn’t give closure to/or explain; I won’t state them so it’s not a spoiler.

’20th Century Women’ Movie Review

20th-centhury-women-banner

This movie is a sort of coming of age movie for two of the women and a conversation about life ensues amongst all the characters. The actors have great chemistry. This movie could end up with Oscar noms. A little slow yet an okay movie.

The Resurrection of Gavin Stone’ Movie Review

The faith based film is a great movie night out for the entire family. This could be a Hallmark movie yet I enjoy seeing faith/family movies on the big screen. The storyline is predictable yet heart warming.

‘The Founder’ Movie Review

The Founder banner.png

This movie is obviously told from the perspective of Ray Kroc otherwise I think Ray would be depicted even more ruthless than shown in this film. Although, Ray definitely seems to be the motivator (with a lot of hard work) to get McDonald’s to where it is now. The founders, the McDonald brothers were “small town” thinkers and Ray took over turning McDonald’s into a corporation. The movie left loose ends never explaining when he stole his 3rd wife from a business partner and never giving detail about the McDonald family other than the brothers. So sad they never received royalties.  P.S. I would like to see a film from the perspective of the McDonald brothers.

‘xXx: Return of Xander Cage’ Movie Review

return-of-xander-cage-banner

Well, I’m new to this franchise. This is the first of the three that I’ve seen (I’ll try and catch the other two soon). If you want high impact action scenes, then this is the film for you. The storyline isn’t deep yet this is a reprisal for Vin so fans are thrilled that he’s back. Essentially, you have bad guys vs. good/bad guys and maybe a new team created. Shout out to Rory McCann who is “The Hound” on G.O.T. I saw it in IMAX 3D and it was great. #Detroiters, there’s a surprise for you!  A little cheesy but it is big screen entertainment. There should definitely be another film.

‘Patriots Day’ Movie Review

Patriots Day banner.png

Of course based (closely) on the true story, this movie is to say the least, a wonderfully acted movie that bring you to tears and have you applauding after the movie (and maybe during). Be prepared for very gory scenes. There’s a riveting scene by actress, Khandi Alexander, portraying an interrogator (award worthy to me; she’s also mama Pope on #Scandal).

‘Silence’ Movie Review

Silence banner.jpg

Based on true accounts from the 1600’s this movie is shocking to learn of what Catholic Priests endured risking their lives to teach Christianity to people in Japan. Although not a great topic, this is a great movie! Be prepared for hard to watch scenes. Great cast with great acting.
