‘The Emoji Movie’ Movie Review

Emoji movie banner

All of the emoji’s meet one another and it’s funny seeing the personalites of some of them, lol. This is a family friendly movie that all will enjoy. Do I think there will be a sequel? Probably not, as I didn’t see it as a possible franchise but I could be wrong. I saw it in 2D and it was great.

‘Atomic Blonde’ Movie Review

Atomic Blonde banner

If you’re an action (fight scenes) movie lover, then this is the movie for you.  I believe Charlize is trying to establish herself as an action villainess as her last two films have depicted her that way. The action takes place in Berlin and there are double agents everywhere.

‘Detroit’ Movie Review

INTENSE and it’s a hard movie to refer people to go and see.  Based on true accounts from the 1967 riot in Detroit this movie focuses on the murders of three young men at the Algier’s motel.  Is the movie totally factual?  No.  I had a quick conversation with  a relative of Fred Temple’s and the movie does not tell the story of what actually happened and I noticed a couple things that didn’t tie in well.  What’s important about this movie is that it depicts a big part of history that I wasn’t as aware of as I thought.  I was sad, angry and drained all at the same time.  The worst thing about the movie is that the same senseless murders by police officers are still happening in 2017 and even with modern technology from cell phone videos etc… bad cops are still getting away with murder.  Not all cops are bad cops…I know of good ones.  I believe there will be Oscar nominations as this movie had stellar performances.

‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets’ Movie Review

Valerian movie

The storyline did not engage me at all. The lush colors and sci-fi creatures kept my eyes intrigued. The plot is weak and probably because there wasn’t a well known celebrity in a lead position, I was not entertained. I saw it in 3D and it’s probably not worth paying for.

‘Girls Trip’ Movie Review

Girls Trip banner

Well to say the least, the men (Larenz Tate and Kofi Siriboe b.k.a. Ralph Angel/Ra from ‘Queen Sugar’) give staggering eye candy throughout the movie. This is a mature movie for women who won’t be ashamed about anything concerning the male anatomy! Lots of laugh out loud moments. There’s also warm heartedness between the girlfriends. Fun girls night out movie yet I think the guys will like it as well. Great music and it was good seeing Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett-Smith back together on the big screen.  LOTS of celebrity cameos!

‘Dunkirk’ Movie Review

This is probably the loudest movie I’ve ever seen/heard yet the loudness gives riveting realism to this war movie that is of course based on a true story. There’s not a lot dialogue to really explain what’s going on yet you will be engaged with every word spoken. I saw it in IMAX.

‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ Movie Review

War for the Planet of the Apes banner

Finally one in this franchise that I liked.  The storyline is good as it starts slow (especially with lots of subtitles) to build each character.  It seemed to me that the franchise has shifted to go in another direction and to me, it’s for the better.  The CGI is much better than in the other two.  Good action, humor and heart warming.

When you get a house full of catty women some of which some who may have never touched a man, then know problems are coming. The storyline intention is good yet it could have been way more intense and dramatic….to make it a good movie like the promos made it seem.

‘The Big Sick’ Movie Review

Cultural differences can only add to a new relationship. Based on a true story from the two lead actors we find this couple falling for one another then a sickness enters into the questionable relationship. Love never fails though. Lots of humor.
