‘The High Note’ Movie Review (streaming)

The High Note

Originally set to open in theatres you can find ‘The High Note’ streaming on various platforms. The premise is a seasoned vocalist who wants to reboot her career with new music yet her label isn’t on board for it. The back story is her assistant wanting to become a music producer. She finds a great singer yet there’s some drama. From what I’ve read, Tracee does her own vocals and it’s not bad. Overall I enjoyed all of the music.

‘The Lovebirds’ Movie Review (Netflix)

lovebirds-netflix-_TLM

This is the first non-animated (first run planned) movie to be released since mid March when the global pandemic began. This is definitely not a storyline to take seriously it’s for jokes which did make me laugh. This corky couple finds themselves witnessing several shootings and running from the bad guy and the police which helps to strengthen their relationship. This is the ice breaker I and most need with theatres being closed. Originally a theatre release yet this film can be viewed on Netflix.

‘The Last Dance’ via ESPN

last-dance

No matter what your age was in the late 80’s-90’s, if you understood basketball then you know it was the best of basketball! I so enjoyed this documentary that is mostly narrated by the legendary Michael Jordan. I am a Detroiter and an original fan of the “bad boys” days of basketball that the Detroit Pistons created. As much as I love the City of Chicago, our hearts were crushed when the Bulls finally were able to overcome the Pistons to go to the NBA finals (which ended our 3-peat journey). The Pistons had to overcome the Celtics to get to the finals so it was inevitable that the Bulls with Michael Jorden would defeat us. I was little beside myself as the Pistons weren’t mentioned until episode 3 or 4? I know there still seems to be friction between Isaiah Thomas/Zeke and Jordan. I also enjoyed getting to know Jordan’s personality then and now. He really shows how motivated he was to become the champ he is now; there were emotional parts and episode 9 was emotional for more. Overall, the documentary doesn’t flow entirely with the timeline as it jumps all around. I really did enjoy this memory lane of the best era of basketball, especially for me a woman, lol. I watched all teams play during that era and I knew the best players and even the bench athletes, lol. Enjoy! P.S. I heard that ABC will air this 10-part documentary soon; I viewed via ESPN. P.S.S. I never write this much for a review, so you know I must have enjoyed it.

‘John Henry’ Movie Review – Netflix

John Henry

Allegedly, based on folk talk hero yet this one is with an urban spin. Full of ridiculous scenes that should make you laugh. The acting is horrible in this cheesy flick that I don’t know how it made it to the big screen even for a limited run (before the pandemic). I viewed this on Netflix.

‘Scoob’ Movie Review

scoob

Due to the pandemic, this nostalgic animated re-boot has been released directly to streaming platforms. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen a Scooby movie or episode so some of the characters (villains) I had forgotten about. I did like how it was explained how Shaggy and Scooby first met. It’s decent for a nostalgic animated revisit that the family can enjoy together.

‘Ozark’ Netflix TV Series Review

Ozark

So, I was probably one of ten people on Earth that didn’t have a Netflix account. I watched Season 1 fast; I watched Season 2 even faster, lol. I then learned that Season 3 was already uploaded and hurried to watch it. I am completely a fan of this cleaver, funny, dramatic, crime-filled thrilling and compelling series. Season 4 has been confirmed! A must watch series in my opinion.

‘Ruthless’ Streaming Series

ruthless

This is a another television series created by Tyler Perry. A spinoff from ‘The Oval’ that airs on the B.E.T. network this series is about a cult that specifically kidnaps children of parents on their compound. The pilot episode aired on B.E.T. to tease viewers to subscribe to B.E.T. Plus streaming service where this series airs (1-week free trial). I was curious to find out more so I watched the final seven episodes on the streaming service. Held my attention and it’s possibly a series I would like to keep up with (Season 1 – 8 episodes approx. 40 minutes each). Mature episodes.

‘A Good Woman is Hard to Find’ Streaming Movie Review

A-Good-Woman_AW

I wasn’t expecting how hard core this movie was going to become. The lead characters’ husband was killed and she seeks for justice…her form of justice. Some scenes are laughable which is good yet this widower transforms to a heroine to save her family.

‘The Assistant’ Movie Review

the assistant

I viewed this via a streaming outlet. If you’ve ever had a passion for a career field yet worked for and with crappy people, then this movie describes it. Cut and dry storyline yet it brings to the forefront what happens sometimes in show business.
