‘The Little Mermaid’ movie review

Disney does it right with this live action remake! The expected lush colors and whimsical scenes are all there to dazzle your eyes. I actually don’t recall if I’ve ever completely seen the original animated movie. Halle does a great job of the reinvisioning of the character and Disney includes all cultures. There are a few dark scenes so the littles may close their eyes a couple times. I saw it in IMAX and it was great; I may see it again in 3D.

‘The Bad Guys’ Movie Review

The advertising didn’t live up to the simple storyline. Probably a decent outing for a family.

‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ Movie Review

I’ve now seen this film twice in IMAX and I enjoyed it both times. As usual, Marvel delivers on an origin storyline and all of the big action scenes that includes lots of kung-fu. The Avengers infusion was so loved! There are 2 end credit scenes as usual with Marvel films. Awkwafina is a great add to this franchise.

‘Raya and the Last Dragon’ Movie Review

It was great catching a Disney film in the theatre! Big bold lush colors on an E-Max screen. The storyline was engaging and kept me entertained. Fun for the entire family to enjoy together. You can also watch this film on Disney+ for an up-charge or watch it endlessly on June 4th. There’s a cute short-film as well, ‘Us Again’.

‘Jumanji: The Next Level’ Movie Review

Jumanji 2

The 2nd installment to the re-boot has new avatars that add a flare to the video game storyline. It was a bit hard for me to keep up with who was who in and out of the game. Not as good as the last film yet a decent enough popcorn Holiday release movie.

‘Angry Birds 2’ Movie Review

Angry birds 2

So, I have never played this popular app game so I’m unfamiliar with the characters. I saw the first film and like this one I think I need to know the game to enjoy the movie. I will say that the demographic is definitely for younger children in this sequel with a frozen adventure. Didn’t hold my attention. There is a very cute short shown just before the movie that I hope gets an Oscar nomination. It’s about a little girl with very tight curly coils natural hair Triumph.

‘The Farewell’ Movie Review

The Farewell

Based on a lie yet a very true story is this heartwarming family drama filled with humor.  Mostly subtitles, (with maybe 5-10 percent of English) you were still bound to stay focused on the storyline.  I saw the movie at #TheMapleArt theatre in Bloomfield, MI where Executive Producer, Eddie Rubin, from Bloomfield answered questions after the movie.

‘Ocean’s 8’ Movie Review

Oceans

This is definitely a girls night out movie for Summer time fun. The storyline is not as tricky as the original Ocean’s movies yet it’s worth checking out. Lots of familiar faces in the ensemble cast with LOTS of cameos from celebrities. Laughs with a little mystery.  I waited until the credits finished and there wasn’t an end credit scene.  I saw it in Dolby and it was great.
