‘The Irishman’ Movie Review

the irishman

Although long, 3 1/2 hours long, I was engaged with the storyline that never seems to disappear if you live in Metro Detroit. It’s hard to believe that so much violence took place in broad daylight (I’m aware and sensitive to 2019 happenings) in this era.

‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ Movie Review

ant

I really enjoyed this sequel. New characters are introduced to this funny ensemble cast. Fun summertime popcorn movie. Yes, there are two end credit scenes with the first one tying into the Avengers 2019 sequel. My first viewing was in Dolby; I’ll probably check it out in 3D as well.

‘I, Tonya’ Movie Review

I Tonya banner

Based on the perspective of Tonya Harding we learn “loosely” her side of the story after her friend and ice skating competitor is seriously injured in Detroit, MI which leaves Tonya opens to compete in the Olympics.  To say the least, Tonya’s side is humorous and sad if this is anything close to her upbringing.  I’m sure Nancy is not enjoying the attention Tonya is getting now (if she even cares) for revealing her perspective of the now true conspiracy to elevate Tonya.  Great acting from Margot and Alison…they’ll probably get award nominations.

‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ Movie Review

Jumanji banner

I vaguely remember the original Jumanji and I was hoping this reboot made it their own…and they did.  Very funny movie (especially Kevin Hart scenes) with lots of fun adventurous scenes that have a beautiful Hawaiian backdrop.  There’s a bit of profanity and I thought a little too much exaggeration on the transformation of body “part” from the teenage girl to a middle age man.  I saw it in Real D 3D and it was pretty good.  Some of the cgi is a bit cheesy.

‘Ferdinand’ Movie Review

Ferdinand baner

Definitely cute enough that children will love it and families alike.  The humor and storyline isn’t all that exciting to engage adults.  I saw it in 3D and you don’t have to pay the extra bucks to enjoy it visually.

‘Daddy’s Home’ Movie Review

Not being a Will Ferrell fan I was pleasantly surprised that his comedic acting along with Mark Wahlberg meshed together well. Laugh out loud comedy throughout!

‘Ant-Man’ Movie Review

Ant Man banner

Who doesn’t know that I’m a big #Marvel fan? Well, I am and ‘Ant-Man’ passes the test as well, lol. This is probably the most “comic bookey” movie of this franchise…by that, I mean it’s corky funny and will definitely appeal to the youngest of fans. I saw it in IMAX 3D and it was fabulous. I was so excited to see Falcon of the Avengers have a cameo in this film! Don’t forget, as usual, there are TWO end of movie credit scenes (stay till the screen turns black…there’s another Avenger in the final credit scene). Of course, this was the #1 movie in the U.S. in it’s opening weekend.

‘Annie’ (2014) Movie Review

Annie banner

The best musical movie I’ve seen in awhile. This is a great modernized version of a classic. There’s good singing and not too much of it, lol. Quvenzhané Wallis is an Oscar nominated actress and she holds her own as Annie. Great ensemble cast with chemistry throughout the movie. There’s a music video with cameos from a few well known celebrities.  Producers on the film include:  Jada Pinkett Smith, Will Smith and Jay Z.!  This is a great film for the whole family to see this Holiday Season!
