‘Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ Movie Review

So, I have never played the board game nor am I familiar with any of the characters etc.. I caught an early showing (2 weeks in advance) and was pleasantly pleased! This is a mixing bowl of genres and movies/series’ that I like. The storyline and characters reminded me of Xena, Hercules, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and believe it or not, the Marvel Avengers, lol (you’ll notice that scene). Lots of humor and the nearly full auditorium, applauded afterwards. Popcorn movie that entertained me. I plan to see it again in either IMAX or Dolby. P.S. It was great to see Sophia Lillis from the “It” movies. There’s one end credit scene.

‘Wonder Woman 1984’ Movie Review

The long awaited sequel is finally on the big screen (and streaming as well via HBO Max) due to many postponements of the pandemic. The opening scene is quite entertaining with a tournament of the Amazon women and Diana as a child. The slow and vague plot does somewhat explain why Steve Trevor is back and how new villains arise. Overall, not as enjoyable as the first film yet the action scenes are worth seeing in IMAX. There’s a GREAT end credit scene that comes pretty quickly.

‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ Movie Review

Spider Verse banner

I have never been a comic book fan yet I’m an over the top fan of all the Marvel movies. This being the first animated film, I had no high hopes yet I was pleasantly pleased. Technology has only gotten better and this film is lavishly lush on the big screen…bold crisp colors; fun and funny animated film for the entire family to see together. Look for a brief Stan Lee cameo and stay until the screen turns black. I saw the movie in Dolby and it was great!

‘A Wrinkle in Time’ Movie Review

A Wrinkle in Time banner

Based on the book of the same name, Ava Duvernay brings her version of the book to the big screen. The movie is full of lush colors and fantasy filled scenes yet I couldn’t connect to the overall storyline.

‘Wonder Woman’ Movie Review

Wonder Woman banner 2

#GirlPower  This is the super hero movie that women have been waiting for!  A really good storyline; lots of action from the Amazon women and Ms. Wonder Woman herself.  I saw it in IMAX 3D and it was fabulous!  There is no end-credit scene.  SPOILER: I was a little upset that Lynda Carter was not in the movie…I thought maybe a cameo yet she was involved behind the scenes.

‘Hell or High Water’ Movie Review

hell-or-high-water

Here’s a good film with a Western feel. This crime spree takes place in modern time yet there’s a feel that it’s an epic western film. Bank robberies and shoot outs is what you’ll find in this film yet the crimes support the love of family.

‘Star Trek Beyond’ Movie Review

Star Trek Beyond banner

Storyline, check! Action scenes, check! I really enjoyed this new installment in the franchise (much better than the last). Although, not a deep storyline it was one I could follow and enjoy. I saw it in IMAX 3D and it was great. There’s a warm sentiment at the end to a classic character and a newer one.

‘The Finest Hours’ Movie Review

The Finest Hours banner

This movie is based on a true story that actually happened in Cape Cod in 1952. It’s really hard to imagine being in such a storm at sea and actually surviving. The movie is slow yet there are a few visually stunning scenes to watch (I saw it in 3D; no IMAX at the theatre I went to due to ‘Star Wars’ still making a lot of money). I thought the acting by particularly, Chris Pine and overall the entire cast could have been better yet overall the movie was okay.

‘Into The Woods’ Movie Review

Into The Woods banner

I found this musical fairy tale of sorts to be funny and entertaining (the singing is not so good to me other than from those I know who can sing). This musical is a bit dark and not for children in my opinion yet it is being marketed towards children. Overall, a good cast…not a must see but if you want a laugh, check it out.
