‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ Movie Review

What a wonderful nostalgic reboot of this franchise! The storyline is engaging from the beginning (of course we know it’s about catching ghosts) from an ensemble of actors that are well cast. I didn’t think the last re-boot of all females was bad at all yet I enjoyed this one totally especially with the return of the original characters! There are 2 end-credit scenes so stay until all credits have shown. The IMAX experience is great.

I was pleasantly surprised that I liked this animated/real life film. I of course loved those old school arcade games yet I didn’t know how this film would pull it together to be likeable (I did like ‘Wreck it Ralph’ but it is a total animated film). The humor of the main characters is great. This is a fun Summertime popcorn movie. I saw it in 3D and it was pretty good. P.S. another one of my fave actors from Game of Thrones is in this one, Peter Dinklage.

‘Get On Up’ Movie Review

get on up poster

Chadwick Boseman is great at biopics! This movie is just over 2 hours yet it could have been longer because in my opinion Mr. Brown’s story wasn’t told in depth…especially his darker side that we read about in the news. Overall, I did enjoy this movie and with this great ensemble cast the acting is great. Chadwick does a great job with the dancing, mannerisms and “geechy” dialect. It’s early to talk about Oscar worthy performances yet Chadwick’s depiction is great although the storyline could be stronger. There are 1st person scenes that the main character has that adds to developing of the storyline. The music is great!

‘Tammy’ Movie Review

I’m glad I didn’t expect much before seeing this movie because I ended up liking it. I enjoyed the comedy yet the movie tried several times to delve into serious drama issues which was a hard transition in my opinion. There’s a really good ensemble cast who mostly have small roles yet I enjoyed seeing a few faves of mine. I am becoming a fan of Melissa McCarthy big screen films and let’s see if she can keep ’em coming. Not a great Summer popcorn flick yet it’s not bad.
