‘Stockholm’ Movie Review

Stockholm

As the caption on the poster states, the movie is based on true yet absurd events that happened during the bank robbery in the 70’s in Switzerland.  There’s lots of corny humor and it’s hard to imagine that the quirkyiness of this movie ever happened.

‘The Kid’ Movie Review

The Kid

Billy The Kid is the secondary storyline as the primary storyline is about a brother and sister who are on the run from their uncle who wants to avenge the killing of his brother, their father. Their father kills the mom and his son kills him. There are gory and intense scenes. A somewhat decent western film yet I wanted a bit more.

‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets’ Movie Review

Valerian movie

The storyline did not engage me at all. The lush colors and sci-fi creatures kept my eyes intrigued. The plot is weak and probably because there wasn’t a well known celebrity in a lead position, I was not entertained. I saw it in 3D and it’s probably not worth paying for.

‘The Magnificent Seven’ Movie Review

the-magnificent-seven-banner

This is my kind of a movie! What a great Western. I never saw the original but I will say I can’t imagine this film being rated horrible compared to the original. The build up of each character is good which causes you to like these bad guys with good intentions. I was on the edge of my seat and clapping during the epic wild west battle at the end. I saw it in IMAX.

‘Maggie’s Plan’ Movie Review

Maggies Plan

To say the least this is a complicated storyline, however, with a good cast and acting you’ll stay along for the ride. Lots of humor in this wacky love story of sorts.

‘Getaway’ Movie Review

Getaway banner

With this being the last Holiday weekend in Summer you’d hope for a good movie this weekend after a long Summer of blockbusters. ‘Getaway’ does nothing to engage movie goers this weekend. There’s some good action scenes that are a little reminiscent of ‘Fast & Furious’ yet this movie in no way compares to the F&F franchise. The storyline is weak (most of the scenes are in the car); Selena’s acting is weak; I expected more from Ethan Hawke and especially Jon Voight. The movie ends trying to set up a sequel yet if they don’t recast the entire movie and write a new script, the sequel will fail as I predict this one will. I did recognize Rebecca Budig of ABC’s All My Children in the movie; she portrays the wife Ethan’s character. Don’t waste your money on this one.
