This racy satire film starts off engaging and loses it’s point and drive to make a point by the end of the film. I was surprised to see Omari Hardwick as I didn’t remember seeing him in early trailers.

Here’s the first pre-quell movie that’s apart from the Star Wars movies…well it’s a winner-winner! Lots of old-school memories of the original movies that lead to the beginning of Star Wars. I saw it in IMAX 3D and it was great. I believe all Star Wars fans will be delighted in this movie.

I’m a big sci-fi fan and I wanted to approach this film with no expectations. The movie is a bit slow yet with a little humor. The actual storyline is a little hard to follow because you don’t know how it’s going to end. Overall, it’s an okay movie.

This is a great film! Lots of drama through violence, wrestling and love. Oona Laurence portrays the daughter of the main characters and she gives a riveting performance. The acting in this film is Oscar worthy (I don’t know why it didn’t come out later in the year when those are usually the films that get more Oscar attention). Great performances from Jake Gyllenhaal and Forest Whitaker. A little slow to some in a couple of spots but not to me. Detroit’s own Eminem is on the soundtrack for the movie.

The “alleged” final movie in this franchise was pretty good to. The first ‘Taken’ was and still is a classic and both sequels together aren’t as good. Contrary to popular polls I’ve read, this movie did hold my interest and I ended up liking it better than the 2nd installment. I’ve always hoped that Bryan’s daughter Kim would learn some of his skills and get it on the action but she never does. I didn’t know Forest Whitaker was in the film but it was a welcomed surprise. We’ll see if this one is “really” the last one, lol.

Here’s a pretty good ensemble cast in a storyline that’s pretty predictable. Of course, Forest Whitaker gives a great performance of a sick yet deranged man who needs to take his meds (he usually does very well playing these types of roles). He’s on a journey to get closure from a situation that haunts him. Mike Epps takes on another serious role that doesn’t go over too well. Anthony Mackie holds his own as usual. If there was better editing the movie wouldn’t have been so predictable and would have been better. There are a few hard to watch torture scenes; withcraft type scenes as well that reminded me of ‘Beloved’. Based on the film “The Gypsy and the Gury”.

This is a Holiday musical that is depicted from the Play by poet Langston Hughes. With a well known ensemble cast, this film is current day yet recreates biblical scenes of the birth of Christ. The story is about love with inspiring moments especially with the music! Raphael Saadiq is the Executive Music Director and as usual he does a fabulous job (especially songs that were chosen for this film). The music from well known singers is wonderful and all others try to hold their own (lol). Nice movie to see this Holiday Season with family and friends.

5 stars is all I’m saying about this movie. Fabulous ensemble cast, great storyline (from the book) and well acted! There’s so much that I can write that I liked about this movie but it would be pages long. Forest Whitaker (Cecil Gaines) should definitely get an Oscar nomination as should the movie. Oprah returns to the big screen and holds her own as Gloria Gaines. Honorable mentions are Elijah Kelley as Charlie Gaines…he added humor to the film; Cuba Gooding Jr. as Carter Wilson; Alan Rickman and Jane Fonda as President and Mrs. Reagan; Mariah Carey has a small role yet it’s intense. Honestly, I thought all of the presidential performances were great. A few emotional scenes. Must see movie!
I’m so proud of Elijah! I had the opportunity of meeting him several years ago and working with him on events in Detroit.

I got a pic with Oprah at Disneyworld’s Grand Floridian Resort where she was staying (I was next door at the Polynesian). That was my first time getting a chance to talk with her for a few minutes (I attended many tapings of the OWS before she retired).
