‘The Public’ Movie Review

The Public

The main public library in Cincinnati is commandeered by (homeless) locals who frequent the library for “all” resources.  A Winter freeze hits and they have no place to go and a sit in starts with a couple of unsuspected people joining the cause.  There’s humor in a situation that’s real to a lot of people.

‘Breaking In’ Movie Review

When you mess with children, a mother will come for you as does Gabrielle Union’s character. There are lots of thrilling scenes and kick-butt action. The storyline gets right to the point and doesn’t disappoint. The movie never explains what Gabrielle’s character training in fighting came from.

‘Sleepless’ Movie Review

I had no expectations of enjoying this movie (yet high hopes) despite the ensemble cast of a few of my favorites because of lack of big budget advertising and advance critic screenings.  Well, I really enjoyed this fast paced bad-cop good-cop with a few bad guys movie, lol.  The storyline is simple enough and there a few twists so it’s not so predictable.  Definitely worth checking out.

‘Almost Christmas’ Movie Review

Famous playwright David E. Talbert’s new Holiday themed movie with an ensemble cast hits the big screen this weekend. Lots of laughs with almost as many scenes with profanity (if you’re taking children). Will Packer is a producer on the movie and we know his projects usually fare well. This is probably not a classic Christmas movie but it’s worth checking out; I may see it again.

‘The Birth of a Nation’ Movie Review

birth-of-a-nation-banner

Based on true events in the life of Nat Turner, who led a slave rebellion in 1831. This film in my opinion showed different yet horrific situations that slaves endured. Although there are very gory and hard scenes to watch it is still a good depiction of the heroic efforts Nat Turner and others fought for. Gabrielle Union has a small yet powerful role; she never says a word yet makes a mark.

‘Top Five’ Movie Review

Top Five banner

A great comedic ensemble cast is a winner for the film yet the storyline falls short. If you want to laugh, the go check this film out. I laughed out loud. This film is not for children for all the raunchy sex/nude scenes. Lots and cameo scenes with well known celebrities. There’s one surprise at the end…but I won’t give it away (it’s funny). A Love & Hip Hop star makes it to the big screen.

BTW, My top five: 1. Salt & Pepa 2. Heavey D 3. Run DMC 4. Whodini
5. Will Smith LOL, have fun selecting your top five.

NOTE: I have two ratings for this film

4 stars for the comedy; 2.5 stars for the storyline

‘Think Like a Man Too’ Movie Review

Here’s a Summer sequel that’s hot! I so enjoyed the continuation of the characters of this movie. Lots more jokes that the original film that is depicted from Steve Harvey’s book’ “Act Like A Lady – Think Like A Man”. All of the actors are back to show us how their relationships have developed. There’s a sort of music video that the girls perform to the old school song “Poison” by BBD (Bell, Biv, DeVoe) that is very funny! NOTE: There’s an end credit scene…WAIT TILL THE SCREEN GOES BLACK. I understand there’s a soundtrack that primarily features Mary J. Blige (I loved the soundtrack from the first film).
