‘The Aftermath’ Movie Review

The Aftermath

This is about a love story that comes to be during war time.  The infidelity and unhealed hurt crash and the heart must decide what’s best.  This is definitely a chick flick and it’s worth checking out.

‘Serenity’ Movie Review

serenity

I actually thought this movie was sci-fi because of the different point of views the main characters could take on. A-listers line of the cast yet the storyline fails to connect everything and everyone in my opinion. How the movie ends doesn’t make sense with the mature scenes.

‘First Man’ Movie Review

First Man banner

I’m a big fan of Astronomy and if I wasn’t I would have found this movie boring and too long. I did google the facts about this mission during the movie to compare with the storyline. Overall, the movie is not engaging or interesting yet I watched it. I also find the facts of the mission somewhat not true. I viewed this in IMAX and it was good. The movie is visually stunning. I don’t recall Katherine Johnson ever being mentioned (I stand corrected) who was called upon for her calculations (and other black women) for space missions. The black women were the premise of the blockbuster movie ‘Hidden Figures’.

‘Chappaquiddick’ Movie Review

Based on true accounts of when Senator Kennedy drove his car over a bridge and the passenger, a secretary who worked for his brothers, drowned.  The movie definitely made me aware of a story I was only a little aware of, I have to do some online reading on the facts.

‘Everest’ Movie Review

Everest banner

Based on the true story of the journey about climbers from two expeditions starting their final ascent toward the summit of Mount Everest in 1996, the highest point on Earth. The weather changes and it turns deadly. I saw it in IMAX 3D which made each scene on the mountain that much more intense; paying the extra for IMAX is worth it.

‘Terminator Genisys’ Movie Review

terminator Gensys

This classic franchise has been rebooted and you can expect a trilogy. This film is somewhat a repeat of the original yet terminators from other movies are included with the time travels. We see the Ah-nold in all of the time travels so the storyline becomes a little confusing. I summed this movie up as a Summertime popcorn movie that has lots of action scenes and great special effects (the 3D purchase is worth it). And once again another Game of Thrones star is on the big screen, Emilia Clarke a.k.a. Daenerys Targaryen.

‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ Movie Review

Dawn of the POA banner 2

I will say I enjoyed the 2nd film of this new franchise better than the first. The 3D special effects were great and so is the cinematography. The storyline is lackluster and somewhat predictable. I did like that they tied the first film into this one. Overall, I’ll say Hollywood still hasn’t made a really good and/or even great “ape” movie since the original old-school films of the late 60’s and 70’s. I love watching those old films because the apes had more personality and I miss seeing the great makeup and costumes of the actors portraying the apes. I will give the 2001 P.O.T.A. movie starring Mark Wahlberg an honorable mention.
