‘Joker’ Movie Review

I really think it was finally time to learn the back story of a superhero villain. The story is executed well and great acting from Joaquin. I expect many acting awards from him. The storyline is definitely dark, gory and twisted. This is not the typical DcComics movie, therefore, young children shouldn’t see this without supervision. I think this movie will redefine DcComics movies moving forward and I really can’t see Jared Leto remaining as the Joker. This performance is better that Leto and Nicholson (although the latter wasn’t really dark). I don’t think it super cedes Heath Ledger’s great performance yet I may rent that movie and watch it.

‘Mary Magdalene’ Movie Review

Leading up to Resurrection Sunday (Easter) is a Holy time for Christians around the world.  This film is told from the perspective of Mary Magdalene.  Although, some accounts were familiar to me from bible teachings there were some things that didn’t connect according to the bible.  Still, I’d say see it for yourself as it does motivate you check the bible and/or your bible study notes.

‘The Sisters Brothers’ Movie Review

This is somewhat a shoot-em-up bang-bang Western movie, which I liked.  Based on a novel it tells the story of the infamous Sisters brothers who are criminals and searching for gold.  Not a bad movie.

‘Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot’ Movie Review

Based on a true story, the main character is an alcholic; he almost loses his life in an accident; unable to walk again he gets a new lease on life by writing racy yet funny cartoons and learning to forgive amongst other things. Although great acting by a well known ensemble cast the movie was mediocre to me. Jonah gives a great performance.

‘Her’ Movie Review

On one hand I’d say this movie has a totally unique spin to a storyline; on the other hand I’d say it’s weird. I’m gonna go with the weird hand. There’s a 1970’s wardrobe vibe going on in a high-tech 22nd Century world. Scarlett Johansson does a good job as the voice of, Samantha. A challenging role since she’s never seen…she’s an O.S. (operating system). Some humor; strong sexual dialogue (in case adults are thinking of taking teenagers). Not worth checking out in my opinion wait for cable.
