‘The Woman King’ Movie Review

So, in one of Viola’s interviews she said the movie depicts tribal formalities that happened in West Africa in the 1800’s yet there was not a caption stating that before the movie began. This is actually the most entertaining movie I’ve seen in months in the theatre. Very entertaining with fierce fight scenes and an engaging storyline. From what I understand there is an end-credit scene (I left early yet I do think I will see in again this weekend). Heads up: the tribal accents are pretty thick, and some words are hard to understand; I wish the whole movie was captioned. Definitely worth checking out.

5 stars out of 5 (updated rating 9/16; I still stand that the accents are heavy so listen carefully; there is an end credit scene yet not worth staying for to me)

‘Breaking’ Movie Review

Based on a true story, a war veteran only seeks to get his earned payment, when he doesn’t he starts a journey that doesn’t end well. It held my attention. Make sure you read the caption at the end of the movie.

‘Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker’ Movie Review

Star Wars 3

Well the third movie to the trilogy in this franchise has come to an end. I will say that I should have watched the last movie again to remember some details but I finally picked up. Overall it’s a decent film with characters that have been popular fan faves for decades now. Nostalgic, drama and battles define this film. I viewed the movie in IMAX 3D.

‘Pacific Rim Uprising’ Movie Review

Pacific Rim Uprising banner

I feel the same about this sequel as the first film, it’s a totally senseless storyline with slow moving transformer like robots. I saw it in IMAX so that made it a bit better yet the movie was a waste of my time.

‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Movie Review

Star Wars banner 2

Entertaining, engaging, exciting, and eye-popping colors and characters!  I really enjoyed this 2nd installment to the trilogy.  Great storyline and everything that a Star Wars fan wants to see.  There’s a great acknowledgement to “Princess Leia” in the end credits.  I  stayed to the screen turned black but no end credit scene.  I saw it in Dolby and it was GREAT!  I will see it at least twice more because I want to experience it in other formats, so IMAX 3D and Super E-Max screen viewings are coming soon. I’ll update this review to share my feelings on those formats.  A fave of mine from #GameOfThrones makes her mark in this one, #GwendolineChristie b.k.a. Brienne of Tarth.

‘Detroit’ Movie Review

Detroit movie banner

INTENSE and it’s a hard movie to refer people to go and see.  Based on true accounts from the 1967 riot in Detroit this movie focuses on the murders of three young men at the Algier’s motel.  Is the movie totally factual?  No.  I had a quick conversation with  a relative of Fred Temple’s and the movie does not tell the story of what actually happened and I noticed a couple things that didn’t tie in well.  What’s important about this movie is that it depicts a big part of history that I wasn’t as aware of as I thought.  I was sad, angry and drained all at the same time.  The worst thing about the movie is that the same senseless murders by police officers are still happening in 2017 and even with modern technology from cell phone videos etc… bad cops are still getting away with murder.  Not all cops are bad cops…I know of good ones.  I believe there will be Oscar nominations as this movie had stellar performances.

‘The Circle’ Movie Review

The Circle movie

Although the storyline is quite relevant now, I thought the movie was slow and it under used the great talents of the actors in this movie.  The plot is not consistent and will bore you yet there is a message.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Movie Review

Star Wars banner

I think diehard Star Wars fans will be happy! I’m not a diehard fan yet I’ve seen all the movies and enjoyed them…I liked this one as well. I saw it in Real D 3D and I’d say it’s worth purchasing. I plan to see it in IMAX soon. I do think I need a refresher on the other six movies, lol. I missed seeing a couple of faces…. Lupita Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie (from #GOT); my next go round I guess I’ll see them, lol, I believe Lupita’s character is masked the entire time so I know what part she played.  P.S.  NO end credit scene.
