‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ Movie Review

Well, the long-awaited sequel is worth the 3 hrs. 12 minutes. Beautifully illustrated; lush colors; Disney at its best! New lands of characters that adds vast new cultures. Definitely worth checking out. I saw it tonight in Super E-Max; next time IMAX 3D. There is not an end credit scene just pandora scenery through some of the credits.

‘Wonder Wheel’ Movie Review

Wonder Wheel banner

This movie didn’t look like a movie…it looked “stagy” like a Play especially when the lighting gets very bright in scenes and then dims down.  The storyline held my attention yet I knew the ending would be what it was NO SPOILERS. Every character has a problem of their own.  Kate’s acting was good along with the character Carolina the others were mediocre.

‘The Mountain Between Us’ Movie Review

The Mountain Between Us banner

Who would have thought that ultimately this film is love story that begins in the worst of situations. The survival on the mountain(s) isn’t as intense as some films have shown yet the storyline was still good. Now, the chemistry between the two wasn’t as intense as I wanted it to be seeing that I’m a huge Idris Elba fan.

‘Collateral Beauty’ Movie Review

Collateral Beauty banner.png

I expected this movie to be “dark” based on the trailers. I didn’t expect to fall in love with this movie. The storyline is sad for this time of the year, especially for anyone who has lost a child. The end of the movie leaves you wondering if angels really do exist. Strong performance by Will Smith. Definitely worth checking out…tissues may be needed. Great ensemble cast.

‘Triple 9’ Movie Review

Triple 9 banner

I really enjoy this bank heist movie that has a great ensemble cast. My attention was held throughout and I think it is really underrated. The chemistry is great within the cast. There are storyline twists that I didn’t expect. This is a great role for Chiwetel Ejiofor that I enjoyed seeing him in and I hope he takes more roles like this.

‘Steve Jobs’ Movie Review

Steve Jobs banner

This is a hard quick read movie review after doing some research on Mr. Jobs. I will say this film is well acted. Michael Fassbender and Kate Winslet give great performances (maybe Oscar worthy). Not knowing much about Steve Jobs personal life was an interesting pull to the storyline. There’s lots of computer jargon that could go over your head. The storyline revolves around three of Jobs’ well known product launch unveilings. Unfortunately, the movie isn’t dated to more recent product developments (iphone, ipad etc…). I did find this man’s life to be interesting and worth learning more about. This film is depicted from a book by Walter Issacson (Jobs’ person biographer) yet Jobs’ wife/family do not give a seal of approval of this film and actually contacted a couple of actors and asked them to not accept the role. Since this is the 2nd film about Jobs’ in the last couple of years I’m sure that one day his family will finally approve a depiction/storyline that they want on the big screen.

‘Insurgent’ Movie Review

Insurgent banner 4

What a GREAT sequel! The action scenes and storyline were all good. I saw it in IMAX 3D and the screen was to say the least, very pretty, lol. I didn’t read the books and I don’t feel like I need to; I’m enjoying the big screen presentation of the books-to-film.

‘Divergent’ Movie Review

I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy the acting and storyline (quite similar to ‘Hunger Games’). The cast is loaded with talent and fresh faces that will prove to be known after this film. Shailene Woodley leads the cast as Tris and has a love interest in, Four (Theo James). Jai Courtney, makes a good presence as Eric as he and Four build their angers toward one another. I haven’t read the books (three which could end up being four films) yet I found the storyline easy to follow (you just may need to Google and learn your factions, lol). If you enjoy sci-fi/action films then you will enjoy this one. 2014 popcorn movies have returned to the big screen!

‘Labor Day’ Movie Review

Labor Day banner

The genre for this film is romantic/drama (IMO). Pretty good storyline, decent acting and somewhat predictable. A love story evolves despite the seriousness of their chance meeting. The back story of the main characters is revealed (pay close attention) while the current day storyline builds. Definitely a chick flick that is worth checking out. I was surprised to see Tobey McGuire in a small role (he’s the adult child to Kate’s character).
