‘Where’d You Go, Bernadette’ Movie Review

bernadette.png

Based on the popular novel yet I’ve heard the movie and the book are totally different. Bernadette is stretched in different directions in her dysfunctional family and quirky career. Good acting and somewhat heartwarming.

‘John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum’ Movie Review

John Wick

What a whirlwind of high impact nonstop intense gory action scenes. This franchise started because the revenge of a dog was the premise. This storyline was simple yet corny and confusing. This three-quel is the start of Summertime popcorn movies that’s enjoyable for the entertainment. A definite setup for part 4. I viewed this high octane movie in IMAX and it was great. Shout out to Halle Berry on a great performance with her badddd dogs. Her character should have had more on screen time.

‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ Movie Review

ant

I really enjoyed this sequel. New characters are introduced to this funny ensemble cast. Fun summertime popcorn movie. Yes, there are two end credit scenes with the first one tying into the Avengers 2019 sequel. My first viewing was in Dolby; I’ll probably check it out in 3D as well.

‘Last Flag Flying’ Movie Review

Three old friends that served together in the military are reunited only to learn early on that one friend’s son was killed while serving and he needs them to help him bring the body back home. Great acting and lots of laughs while on this serious journey.

‘John Wick: Chapter 2’ Movie Review

john-wick-2-banner

This fist fighting and shoot-em-up franchise is back with another adrenaline rush. Mr. Wick is back doing what he does best, carrying out a hit. Well, the coin is flipped by the end of the movie. There will definitely be a sequel. I didn’t wait till the credits were over to see if there is an end credit scene. While the ladies are watching ‘Fifty Shades’ this weekend, the men will definitely support this one, lol

‘Passengers’ Movie Review

passengers-banner

Other than ‘Star Trek’ & ‘Star Wars’ (off the top of my head) this is my favorite sci-fi film of the year (although not labeled as sci-fi). Finally, a good sci-fi flick that I could relate to and end up enjoying (I think ‘Arrival’ is totally overrated). There’s of course a love story and that sealed the deal for me. It was a surprise to see the third human passenger, lol. I saw it in Real D 3D and enjoyed it.

‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ Movie Review

Batman superman banner

Well, everyone was wondering why Batman and Superman were fighting and we now know. Of course, Lex Luthor is all up in the midst. For awhile, I thought the franchise had a total reboot with the add of Ben Affleck as Batman yet Superman’s human parents remain the same. I liked Ben better as Bruce Wayne than actually being Batman. This new batsuit was a bit spacey looking to me with the sorta moon boots and tin man type suit. I’m still liking Christian Bale as the best Batman especially because of that sweet motorcycle. Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman is a good add. I enjoyed seeing Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman in the fight scene (which was probably my favorite scene). Henry is a great Superman and I enjoyed seeing him again in this role. Ben and Henry have nice “eye candy” shirt off scenes for the ladies 🙂 No end credit scene. I saw it in 3D and it was good…I will see it in IMAX soon. Nice scenes of Metro Detroit where a good portion of the movie was shot where Ben and Henry were seen a lot out in public. P.S. nice sneak peak of other D.C. Comic characters.

‘Ride Along’ Movie Review

Ride Along

A definite attempt to start a new comic duo that are policemen. For me there are a few laugh out loud moments in this mediocre storyline. I totally have enjoyed past Will Packer produced movies, as well as, movies Tim Story has directed (they are definitely a dynamic duo behind the scenes) yet this film falls short with the storyline that has a great cast (Kevin Hart, Ice Cube, Tika Sumpter, John Leguizamo). If there’s a sequel, let’s hope for a better script. If you’re looking to have a movie outing for some laughs, catch this movie…don’t expect anything more. BTW, it was #1 at the box office last weekend defying critics bad rating of it. 2014 seems to be the year of Kevin Hart films….a year his fans have been waiting for.
