‘The House Next Door: Meet the Blacks 2’ Movie Review

When you want to just laugh without any type of storyline content, then this is the type of movie you go to see. The first film in this franchise was funnier as this one struggled with the laughs. Towards the end, it was laughable because it wasn’t funny. A little bit of an end credit scene.

‘Love Jacked’ Movie Review

‘Uncle Drew’ Movie Review

A bunch of (famously known) old timer basketball players come together to help a friend who needs to win a tournament when his original star player(s) are stolen from him.  Lots of celeb cameos; humor and a bit heartfelt.

‘Nina’ Movie Review

I’m aware of some of Nina Simone’s music yet I’m not aware of her mannerisms so I wasn’t prepared to connect and compare to Zoe’s portrayal of her. It was different seeing Zoe in a real drama role and if she got Ms. Simone’s personality correct, she did a good job. Everything was new to me so I had a really fresh and untainted perspective. The credits showed that Zoe did her own singing and I was impressed. I know Ms. Simone’s family is against this film but if the research of this film is correct, it’s a decent film. Mike Epps gives a great cameo performance of Richard Pryor.

‘Meet the Blacks’ Movie Review

Now if you don’t want to see an “ignorant” comedy, then skip this one. I knew this film would seek to get laughs with no regrets. Overall, it’s quite funny simply said (especially if you’re a fan of ‘The Purge’ movies).

‘Fifty Shades of Black’ Movie Review

What a funny parody of ’50 Shades of Grey’. I didn’t have high expectations for the storyline to be anything other than ridiculous yet the comedy is laugh out loud and nothing was over the top to make me zone out.

‘Repentance’ Movie Review

Here’s a pretty good ensemble cast in a storyline that’s pretty predictable. Of course, Forest Whitaker gives a great performance of a sick yet deranged man who needs to take his meds (he usually does very well playing these types of roles). He’s on a journey to get closure from a situation that haunts him. Mike Epps takes on another serious role that doesn’t go over too well. Anthony Mackie holds his own as usual. If there was better editing the movie wouldn’t have been so predictable and would have been better. There are a few hard to watch torture scenes; withcraft type scenes as well that reminded me of ‘Beloved’. Based on the film “The Gypsy and the Gury”.
