Just Mercy

Based on a true story we have a well-acted film that depicts Walter McMillian journey to a new trial lead by Bryan Stevenson. Although the era is not so long ago the case and the facts are that of generations ago when a black man could easily be sentenced to life or death row for a crime that he did not commit. There are scenes that are quite emotional.

‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ Movie Review

Godzilla

Honestly, I have to see this again…I was so busy with work emails etc… that I couldn’t concentrate on the lines…yet the visuals are great in IMAX. It did remind me a little (of old school Godzilla movies), in a good nostalgic way. I don’t really think the storyline is meant to be serious or engaging, it’s all about the kind of monsters, Godzilla and more monsters, lol. NOTE: there’s an end credit scene.

‘Den of Thieves’ Movie Review

This is definitely my type of popcorn movie…shoot-em-up bang-bang, lol. The storyline is quite engaging; some scenes as slow(and it works) yet the movie is not slow. The character development is good and your mind is trying to figure out who is actually better of all the bad guys on both sides. I found myself routing for the somewhat obvious bad guys because their plan was so masterful. This movie reminds me of ‘Takers’ with a cast of handsome men and it reminds me of ‘Set it Off’. Overall it’s a good movie yet there were a couple things that didn’t tie in well.

‘Ingrid Goes West’ Movie Review

Well the lead actress, Aubrey Plaza who portrays Ingrid deserves an award nomination because she perfectly depicts a very annoying, pitiful and socially inept person. Ingrid is so easy to dislike in her schemes to befriend people and live a lie. There’s humor along the way and I did enjoy seeing O’Shea Jackson back on the big screen. Do know, this type of behavior is real and serious as suicide is attempted. Elizabeth Olsen also stars in this film and it’s her second movie now show; check her out in ‘Wind River’…it’s a really great movie.

‘Straight Outta Compton’ Movie Review

What a great film that tells fans and everyone else about the journey of rap group NWA. If you’re a fan of NWA, then you will totally enjoy this movie…if you’re not, you will still enjoy the movie. Great music and scenes that remind you of where you were when these things happened. I enjoy learning something new and I really did enjoy learning about their journey on what they had to overcome to become successful. I saw an advance screening in metro Detroit a few weeks ago that O’Shea Jackson, Jason Mitchells and the director F. Gary Gray attended (see pic below).
